In celebration of turn it off week, Barnes and Noble is having a few activities for the kids each night. Tonight was storytime and crafts.
So the night started out like this:
I had something to give to Jaime so we all piled into the car and drove over to Jaime's on our way out to Barnes and Noble. This was supposed to be a quick trip to drop off some papers and head off. On the way to Jaime's, Amber begs and pleads "Can Natalie come too? Will you ask Jaime, please?" My initial reaction was no, but then I thought better of it. So I asked. Natalie wanted to go!
Jaime quickly made Natalie a sandwich. She hadn't had dinner yet. Oops, I didn't think about that! While making a sandwich, Brayden came home and was standing in my Tahoe waiting to go too. Oh no! This was not going as planned. But we can deal with it, right? So Brayden learns it is just Natalie going. Major meltdown ensues.
Jaime decides to just pack up Brayden and Connor and meet us at Barnes and Noble. Yay, we get the whole troop! But I was really feeling bad now because I had just interrupted Jaime's whole night! Oh why do I keep doing this? I so didn't think about it before I asked. Sorry Jaime.
The first story was "If you give a Pig a Party." Then the kids got to choose the next book. So Emma said she wanted "If you take a Mouse to School." This is one of our favorites! Emma pretty much told the whole story before the lady could read it! Oh no, you couldn't tell at all that we have pretty much the whole collection!
Then the kids made party hats and colored a cupcake. Then the lady pulled out their favorite, stickers! Oh my, she was their favorite after that! I mean, stickers, how much cooler can you get? All in all it was a fun night. The kids were very well behaved even after we got home.
We got home, put the kids in bed, said family prayer, and oh no! I realized I forgot to turn in the redbox movie! Oops. 8:00 p.m. the kids should be in bed. I have to get that movie back. John won't be home for about an hour! What do I do? So, I pile the kids back in the car, drive to the nearest redbox, return the movie. Simple right? Oh, except Emma slipped on the puddle of water that Timothy made when he dumped his cup. I hadn't cleaned it up yet. Off to the bedroom for her to find new pajamas as her behind was all wet! Timothy slips in the same puddle, off to the car with him! No time to change pajamas right now!
Whew, got the movie turned in! We came home, the girls went to bed, Timothy went to bed. All was good. We had a successful bedtime with no major meltdowns! Yay, success! What more can I ask for today?
